Over 400 people enjoyed ice skating at the Palmer Arena for the mere $2 skate rental fee. Darren Alexander of Alexander Concessions in Georgetown, IL. donated 3 hours of ice time for the public skate from 6 pm to 9 pm. Darren mentioned the idea to general manager Joe Dunagan who gave him the green light to give the event a try. Darren worked closely with Tony Bucher, the Arena’s Pro Shop manager, to set up the event. Coordinating the event’s facility needs with Arena Facility Manager, Ron Schmink and his staff, the event was a huge success. The Arena also had a concession stand open selling corn dogs, lemon shake ups, soda, popcorn, and nachos. The Arena looks forward to doing this again for our community in the future. We hope everyone had a good time.
